Just Another Day in Paradise

This week we learned that dog toothpaste smells like the worst thing you’ve ever smelled multipled by one hundred. Think beef jerky mixed with raw sewage. I wish I were kidding. However according to Chesney it’s delicious. I suppose this is a good thing. He also received a sort of haircut, his beard was out of control thus causing him to be compared to a little old mountain man by everyone we encountered. Overall a success, although I was terrified the entire time of injuring him with the scissors. He was unconcerned. And also keen on devouring the scissors. Sometimes I wonder if he was a daredevil in his previous life.

Yup, that's a baseball cap. He's just that tiny.

One struggle of having an adorable but very young puppy is that everyone with a dog would like their dog to be best friends with yours. Since Chesney is the ripe old age of eleven weeks he hasn’t had his second puppy shot yet, and being the paranoid dog mom that I am I’m afraid of him contracting a deadly disease until fully vaccinated. However despite all odds, an adorable black puppy of unknown breed named Lucy who lives in our building seems to have taken a shine to my tiny bunny/velociraptor. And the feeling appears to be mutual. All other dogs he is either disinterested in or would like to eat. Lucy, on the other hand, brings out the best in him. I think they may be in love. Except that Lucy’s mom and I keep them at a safe distance so their true feelings for each other are yet to be revealed. But in exactly one week he gets shot #2 and then game on, Lucy! Stay tuned for the results of their first encounter.

When we aren’t busy training, doting on, or pursuing our smallest piece of fur we do attempt to accomplish some household items. This past week I experimented with some new recipes, and as no one appears to have been poisoned I’m going to call them a success! My most recent kitchen undertakings included Chicken Curry (originally Creamy Vegetable Curry but I added the chicken for the man in my life 😉 ) and Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes with Mushroom Gravy courtesy of the Oh She Glows cookbook by Angela Liddon. Her recipes are delicious, healthy and easy to make so if you’d like some kitchen inspiration you should check out her blog at http://ohsheglows.com/. My illustrious handyman also accomplished a myriad of domestic conquests this past couple of weeks including a storage room overhaul and kitchen appliance polishing. Lucky for me he’s handsome and handy. Now if only I could get him to put the cap back on the toothpaste at night we’d be set! #firstworldproblems.
